At selected dates throughout the year, you’ll find us at Amerton Farm in Staffordshire running our wildlife workshops. These could be based around a wildlife theme or creature (eg – life cycles, seashore, garden birds) where children can create a wildlife-related craft and then learn a fact or two about our wildlife by completing some fun, educational activities!
If your youngsters would like to learn more about our prickly pals, then join Hoglets at Amerton Farm this February Half Term.
Through fun games and activities, budding hedgehog lovers will learn some fun facts about our prickly pals and discover why they have been decreasing rapidly in the wild over recent years. Children will go hunting for worms to see if they could survive hibernation, play a game which highlights some of the problems hedgehogs might face and then become the architects and builders of the future… can they create a hedgehog friendly housing estate using their incredible imaginations and a pile of lego? Each hedgehog lover will then decorate their own hedgehog highway to take home so that hedgehogs can visit them easily in their gardens!
You'll find us in the old coffee shop (off the main courtyard) from 17th to 21st February. We will be running workshops at 1pm and 3pm which will last just over one hour. Numbers are limited so pre-booking for these sessions is essential! Workshops are suitable for children 4-12 years of age. Children must be accompanied by an adult and remain their responsibility at all times.
Drinks for adults and children will be available to purchase on arrival from Finney's Tea Room.
"We attended the bat workshop today and it was excellent! Informative, educational and lots of fun. My 6 year old son had a brilliant time and can’t wait to put his bat box up. A brilliant way to entertain the kids for an hour. "
